The "Study tour in Armenia" program was implemented at the initiative of the "International Association of the Armenian Culture" and on the label of "European Choir Association".
On the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia, September 21, the solemn opening ceremony of the program took place in the hall of YSU Culture Center after Charles Aznavour The opening and welcoming speech was made by Karine Davtyan, founder president of the "International Association of Armenian Culture" NGO, YSU vice-rector Mikayel Hovhannisyan, Sonja Greiner, secretary general of the European Choral Association, and Rula Abou Baker, vice president of the International Federation of Choral Music.
During the event, world-famous opera singer Sargis Bazhbeuk-Melikyan, a member of the International Association of Armenian Culture, performed A. "The Rose" by Speniaryan and E. Abrahamyan's "My Ararat" works. And the Choir of YSU Cultural Center after Charles Aznavour (artistic director: Karen Sargsyan, conductor: Ruben Karaseferyan) and famele dance ensemble (artistic director: Ani Haroyan) presented an excerpt from T. Chukhajyan's operetta "Karine".
Right after the opening ceremeny the study sessions for the participants begun. Karen Sargsyan (an honored artist of the Republic of Armenia) talked about Armenian polyphonic music and choral culture.
Maestro Davit Ghazaryan (president of the Armenian Choral Union) presented their organisation and structure.
The participants enjoyed the performances by "Unknown" choir also performed , conductor: Lilit Yedigarian. And the final part of the study day was the session regarding “khazagrutyun” - Armenian old musical system covered by professor Arusyak Tamrazyan.
